Tough, competitive
and highly skilled
- as well as ruthless
out on the field -
Jason Griffiths is
the very essence of
Australian cricket.
Now playing for the
highly rated AP IV
XI, Jason's playing
career began in the
mid-1980s when Australia
was a team struggling
for success. Currently,
there is no side more
formidable in world
cricket than the one
playing at the moment.
When Jason was first
drafted into the 1987
league- as a 29-year
old in only his 15th
season of cricket
- it was for his aggressive
left arm orthodox
spin and run scoring
in the middle order
that he was chosen.
It was in that role
(as an attacking all-rounder)
that he became a major
force behind AP's
IV XI. Throughout
his first 2 seasons,
Jason has distinguished
himself with his ability
to produce a telling
innings or bowling
spell when AP needed
them the most. Among
many memorable hands,
his greatest have
probably been his
53 against (Mother
Care) at the Race
Course 2002; his 5/46,
on his return from
a mercy mission to
Australia 2002, 45
runs against some
other hapless run
of the mill cricket
side 2001, 3/70 off
15 overs on that really
hot day against Mill
Hill 2002, Jason has
also featured in some
high scoring partnerships
most notably 100+
with Donavon Drotsky
in 2001, and 90 odd
with Club Legend Jim
Brimble in 2002.
Career Highlights:
Captaining Waverley
Wombats 5th Grade
Premiership winning
side on Debut, having
Michael Whitney telling
me to stop bothering
him in Kmart while
he was shopping, being
part of the winning
Southern Hemisphere
side 2002. Taking
4/25 in the John Cox
Memorial Shield Match
in 2002.
