XI (105) vs Hanwell (107/1) Lost
(Home)
After winning the toss I elected to bat, aware that
rain would likely impede the game. Conditions got
worse after the wind kept picking up, with the pitch
looking soft but not dangerous. With a long batting
line up we were pretty confident of posting a decent
score but failed. Notable scorers were Saduna Kapugeekiyana
(27*) and and skipper Tharic (28).
Our bowling was not as strong as previous weeks
and with a low score it was a bit hard to defend
but we held them up for 28.2 ovrs. Over to MTSSC
next week and we should get ready to play our best.

2nd XI (85) vs GWR (89/2) Lost
(Away)
3rd XI (197/8) vs Brondesbury (34/1) Abandoned
(Home)
No reports received … ho hum.
4th XI (51) vs Polytechnic (52/2) Lost
(Away – 0pts)
The usual tour week confusion meant we set off with
10 players for the same North Acton playing fields
where our 3rd XI had their low scoring game last
week. My mood was not improved on arrival when
Poly’s opening bowler introduced himself to
us as a “bit of a ringer”. This turned
out to be one of the understatements of the season
as I lost the toss and we were inserted. Parvez Saleh
edged a nasty lifter to the keeper off the fourth
ball of the innings and the tone was set as the one
of the best bowlers I personally have faced at any
AP team level bowled unchanged through out the innings
for figures of 14/5/15/6. It seemed for long periods
that he and the Poly wicket keeper were the only
people getting a game. Special mentions should go
to Stuart Booty (9) and Chris Ellis (7) for showing
dogged determination and courage.
We turned around before tea and Poly were made to
work hard for their runs by the 3 bowlers we used.
Amit Bose, suffering from a tour injury, cut down
his pace, bowled with a cunning mixture of seam and
spin and claimed both wickets to fall. Both Rici
and Henry Freestone Jnr also caused the Poly batsmen
moments of anxiety. So, Poly had obviously
decided to get a big gun out for this relegation
dog fight, but I can’t help feeling that the
whole afternoon was a pretty pointless exercise.
